    • Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, September 6, 1939 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Heart Attack Fatal To Mattison Burns - Mattison Bums, 73, for many years employed at Douglaston Manor Farms, died last Thursday night at Community hospital from a heart attack. He had been a patient at Community hospital since August 21 suffering from injuries which he received when knocked from his bicycle near the Douglaston farm by a car being driven by Harold Sorenson of Oneida. In this accident, Mr. Bums is reported to have received three broken ribs on the left side, a fracture of the left leg, cuts and bruises about the head and back. Mr. Bums was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bums born in Richland, December 28, 1866, and had been a resident of this vicinity most of his life. He had been employed at Douglaston for 28 years, going there as gardener for the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Moody, and being retained after their death by their daughter, Mrs. Hugh Barclay. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Addie North of this community; five sons, Ward, Lyle and Carl of Pulaski, Robert of Barnes Corners and Edward of Syracuse; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Adams of Rochester, and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Jones of Syracuse and Mrs. George Dunlap of Mexico. Funeral services were held from the Foster funeral home on Park street, Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. W. A. Gardner of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was made in Willis cemetery.
