    • Frederick A. Thalhemier, Sr. - Frederick A. Thalheimer, Sr., a longtime resident of Greenbriar, 46 Cortland St., Homer, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the age of 78. He was born November 27, 1928 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Frederick and Jennie Dondarski Thalheimer and had been a resident of the Cortland area since the mid 1980's. He retired from Custodial Building Services in Newark, where he worked for many years as a window cleaner, mostly on New York City's many skyscrapers. Fred was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1951-1953. He enjoyed fishing and was the First Mate on the fishing vessel; the Suzanne II. He also was an avid stamp collector, amassing a collection of well over 100,000 stamps. Surviving is his former wife, Garnet McCarthy Thalheimer of Marathon; two daughters, Karen Thalheimer of Marathon and Janet Thalheimer of Hunterdon, NJ; two sons, Kenneth Thalheimer of Marathon and Frederick (Diane) Thalheimer, Jr. of Scott. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Thalheimer was predeceased by his sisters Marie, Lois, and Audrey. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer on Thursday from 4-5 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
