- Newspaper Obituary - Monday, June 4, 1984 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Beulah R. Caufield, 76, Snyder Road, Lacona, died Friday evening, May 25, 1984, at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since the previous Tuesday. Born May 31, 1907 at Port Ontario a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, she attended local schools and married Carroll Caufield May 29, 1926 at Pulaski. The couple lived at Pulaski and Sandy Creek before moving to Lacona in 1952. Mr. Caufield died November 19, 1970. She was a member of Boylston Wesleyan Church, Cable Trail V.F.W. Auxiliary 8534, Gold Star Mothers, Sandy Creek Grange 127, Sandy Creek Fire Department Auxiliary, Sandy Creek - Orwell Senior Citizens, and the Senior Citizens Bowling League. She is survived by three sons: Arnold Caufield, Sandy Creek; Fred Caufield, Lacona; and Joe Leonard, Maryville, Tennessee; eight daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Deuce and Mrs. Toby (Marion) Dana, Sandy Creek, Mrs. Gilbert (Catherine) Ridgeway, Miss Verna Kay (Butch) Caufield, and Mrs. Judy Donahue, all of Lacona, Mrs. Pat Brimmer, Chaumont, Mrs. Benjamin (Anne) Eggleston, Central Square, and Mrs. Donna Ford, Red Creek. Also surviving are 49 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a cousin, Mrs. Ellen Leonard, Watertown. A daughter and four sons predeceased her, including Sp. 3 Austin Caufield who died September 26, 1956 at Korean Evacuation Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Caufield were held Tuesday, May 29 at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with Rev. Louis Hausele, pastor of Boylston Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Contributions may be made in her name to the Boylston Wesleyan Church or the Building Fund of Cable Trail V.F.W. Post 8534, Lacona.
