Clarence Robert "Papa Sned" Norcross Jr., 75, of 33 Franklin St., died Wednesday night at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, Vt.
For several years Mr. Norcross was employed at Eastern Hardware and then was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 23 years in Malone.
Born Jan. 4, 1930, in Malone, son of Clarence and Leona Gareau Norcross, he graduated from Franklin Academy in 1947 and served in the Air Force from Aug. 31, 1950, to July 15, 1954, in the Radio Radar Corps, stationed in Germany.
He married Muriel T. Marlow on Nov. 27, 1954, at St. Joseph's Church.
He was a life member of Malone Elks Lodge and a member of the Malone American Legion and National Association of Letter Carriers.
He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gambling at casinos, computer games, hunting, fishing, bowling and golf.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bradley J. and Linda and Leslie R. and Patti, all of Malone, Paul G. Dumas, Albany, and Brent A. and Kana Dumas, Malone; two daughters and their husbands, Kathylynn P. and Gerald W. Cook, Malone, and Jeryl and Shawn Keith, Visalia, Calif.; a sister, Lenore Wagner, Cypress, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Two brothers, James and Richard, died before him.
A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home.
