- Harold Clayton Butterworth - February 3, 1894 - November 11, 1918. Military Service World War I: Inducted October 23, 1918 at Pulaski, New York as a Private in the United States Army, he contracted the flu and was taken to the hospital November 6th where he died five days later. Son of DeForest A. and Ida May Smith Butterworth.

Newspaper Obituary - November 20, 1918 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Harold Clayton Butterworth Dies At Camp Wheeler - Harold Clayton Butterworth, aged 24 years, a native of the town of Albion, died at Camp Wheeler, Macon, Georgia, Monday, November 11. His body was brought to Pulaski and later taken to the family home in Albion, where funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Walter Clement, of Richland officiating. Harold C. Butterworth was son of Mr. and Mrs. Deforest Butterworth, of the town of Albion. He had worked about this village for the past few years and had many friends here. October 24th he went from Pulaski with the contingent of drafted men who left on that date. He was taken ill soon after arriving at Macon and pneumonia developed in a most serious form, which caused his death. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Carl, of Syracuse; Percy and Isaac of Albion. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
