Newspaper Obituary - Friday September 20, 1968 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Orley H. Whaley Dies at 59 - Pulaski - Orley H. Whaley, 59, Richland, died Thursday evening in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient 18 hours following an illness of several months. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the family home. Burial will be in Richland cemetery. Friends may call at the family home. Besides his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth M. White Whaley, he is survived by a son, Charles E., Richland, his mother, Mrs. Edith M. Doane Whaley, a sister, Miss Anna Whaley, both of Syracuse; five brothers, Robert, Utica; Oscar, Syracuse; Dayton, Rome; Lloyd, Fernwood, and Archie, Pulaski; two granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Born March 27,1909, at Richland, a son of the late Harry G. Whaley and Edith M. Doane Whaley, he attended local grammar schools and Pulaski High school. He married Miss Elizabeth M. White August 11, 1934, in the Belleville Methodist parsonage with Rev. Miles Hutchinson officiating. Mr. Whaley was employed by the New York Central railroad in Richland until 1937 when he began working for the town of Richland highway department. In 1956 he became a member of the Oswego county highway department and was last employed by the village of Pulaski. He retired February 28 due to ill health. He was a former member of the Richland fire department and was a past noble grand of Springbrook Lodge 646, I.O.O.F.
