    • April 28, 1889 Sophia Doane, age 79 years, Widow, born in Vermont, Resident of Richland Township for 50 years, died in Richland Township of heart failure.
      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 2, 1889 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Port Ontario - Died - April 28th, 1889, Mrs. Sophia Doane, aged 79 years and 10 days. Previous to her death she was seriously burned by her clothing taking fire from her pipe while smoking, causing her death. Mrs. Doane had been severely afflicted with scrofula for a number of years causing blood poisoning to make rapid progress together with the burn. Her funeral service took place on Monday last from the house conducted by Rev. Robert Paul of Pulaski. Mrs. Doane has been a resident of this place about 60 years.
