    • John was a Private in Captain Isaiah Higgen's Company, Major Zenas Winslow's Regiment of the Massachusetts Line. He served four days on alarm September 9-13, 1778.
      He later was captured in service and was kept a prisoner on a ship in New York Harbor for 18 months.
      After the war, John married and moved to Litchfield, Herkimer County, New York. The children were born there, and later in May 1821 the family relocated to Orwell Twp., in Oswego County. By 1827 the family had moved to Richland Twp.
