Edward R. "Peanut" McGrath, 59, of 447 Bremm Road, died Friday at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he had been a patient since Oct. 2. He had been ill with emphysema.
Mr. McGrath was a welder employed by Fulton Boiler Works, Pulaski, for 22 years, retiring in 1994 because of ill health.
Born Oct. 4, 1941, in Ellisburg, son of Andrew and Georgia McGrath McGrath, he attended Belleville and Adams schools.
He married Cathie A. Donahue on Oct. 21, 1966. The couple lived in Sandy Creek and Lacona since their marriage.
Mr. McGrath was a retired member of the Sandy Creek Fire Department, a member of the American Association of Horses Asses Corral 97, Sandy Creek, and a former Boy Scout leader in Sandy Creek.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Melissa VanRy, Mannsville, and Renee McGrath, Sandy Creek; two sons, Andrew, Orwell, and Ronald, Lacona; three sisters, June House, Parish, Charlotte Gregory, Adams, and Betty Thompson, Sandy Creek; two brothers, Clark A., Columbus, Ohio, and Charles G., Adams, and seven grandchildren.
A daughter, Cathie, died in infancy in 1973. Two brothers, Carl and Kenneth, also died before him.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Donald Wiltse, assistant pastor of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
