- Obituary (from newspaper of Friday, 16 Feb. 1979): Albert F. McConnell, 71, of 1005 Academy St., died at 9:38 a.m. Thursday in the House of the Good Samaritan, where he had been admitted Dec. 29.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Reed and Benoit Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Paul Muller, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery, Adams Center.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lila McConnell, Adams Center; three sons, Keith, Adams Center, Lyndon, Dexter, and Donald, Adams Center; three daughters, Mrs. James (Gloria) George, Evans Mills, Mrs. Avis Busler, Watertown, and Mrs. Susie Rogers, Watertown; 40 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; six brothers, George, Zephyr Hills, Fla., Leland, Lomita, Calif., Chester, East Moulton St., Warren, Fernwood, Melzer, Mexico, and Calvin, Adams, and seven sisters, Mrs. Weltha Prior, Dimmick St., Mrs. Ben (Emma) Strait, Amboy, Mrs. Doris Maloney, North Syracuse, Mrs. Secil (Jennie) Brown, Adams, Mrs. Clarence (Jessie) Majo, Cape Vincent, Mrs. Althea Stewart, Marathon, and Mrs. Etta VanAlstyne, Jacksonville, Fla.
A son, Albert, died in Texas in July 1978. A brother, Olin, died in Massachusetts, Feb. 10, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Jordan, Everett, Mass., died before him.
Born May 23, 1907, in Syracuse, a son of Frederick and Edith Calhoun McConnell, he lived on Grindstone Island and at Sackets Harbor, where he attended schools.
He married Lila Thomas of Adams Center on Oct. 19, 1926, at Three Mile Bay Methodist Church parsonage. The couple lived at Adams Center.
He was a truck driver for Abe Cooper and later worked for Marcy, Buck, and Schuyler, retiring in 1969.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local.
