      Watertown Daily Times (NY) - June 3, 2010
      Melzer G. McConnell, 80, of Mexico, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. He was employed by the Carrier Corp. for 39 years as a welder and inspector, until retiring in 1992. He was an army veteran from 1952-1954.

      Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Emma House; one daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Wade, Scriba; one son, Gary (Deborah) McConnell, Mexico; one brother, Leland McConnell, Lomita, Calif.; one sister, Alatha Stewart, Marathon; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, Lester, died in 2006.

      Funeral services will be at 3 PM Saturday at the New Haven Congregational Church, Route 104, New Haven. Calling hours will be 1-3 PM Saturday at the church, prior to the service. Contributions may be made in Melzer's memory to the Mexico VFW, Scenic Ave., Mexico, NY 13114. Arrangements are with Harter Funeral Home.
