Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 16, 1871 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - In Memory of Anson Maltby - The subject of these lines was born in 1802 in Paris, Oneida County, New York, and moved to this place with his parents in 1810, when this section of the state was merely a wilderness, where he resided to the day of his death. He was a man who was much respected by the community, who gave him many substantial tokens of their esteem by placing him in several positions of public trust, he having been several times elected to the office of president of the village. He was placed in charge of Pulaski Academy at the time of its erection, which building will long stand as a monument of his energy and skill as a Mason. He was for many years a humble, consistent member of the Congregational church in this village. The brickwork of the present fine edifice belonging to that society was erected under his supervision. He possessed a mind capable of assisting those who stood in need of good counsel, being sound and judgment, and sympathizing and heart. So, one after another of our first settlers are passing away, leaving us to fill their places. "Shall we meet again," was a thought he often expressed. We hope we shall, in a better world above.
