Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, October 3, 1998 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Ruth M. North, Secretary, Seamstress - Ruth Mary North, 76, formerly of Pulaski, and a longtime resident of Fernwood, died Thursday at Newfane Intercommunity Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. North was a secretary to the quartermaster general of the War Department in Washington, D.C., and later at Lincoln National Bank of Pulaski. She was also a seamstress for many years. She and her husband, Nelson, lived in Pulaski all their married lives. Born February 12, 1922, at Utica, daughter of Robert and Mary E. Bassford Rhoades, she attended Richland and Pulaski schools, graduating from Pulaski Academy and Central School and Syracuse Secretarial School. She married Nelson J. North on February 8, 1947, in Pulaski. Mr. North, who was employed at Pulaski Sales and Service until retiring in 1979, died May 30, 1986. Surviving are three sons, Douglas and Ronald, both of Lockport, and David, Gulfport, Mississippi; four daughters, Mrs. Rob (Elizabeth) McLean, Batavia, Mrs. Matthew (Jean) Alexander, Flushing, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Bronowicki, Washington, New Jersey, and Mrs. Hermon (Michele) Erbacher, Newfane; a brother, Harris Rhoades, Bradenton, Florida, seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, 4927 Jefferson St., with the Rev. John F. Hogan, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
