    • HORNELL- Richard Allen "Al" Rosell, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday (July 12, 2010) at his home at 32 W. VanScoter St., after a long illness. Born in Boise, Idaho on April 22, 1952, he was the son of Richard Rosell, who survives, and Audrey Allen Rosell Pettibone, who predeceased him on July 17, 2009. A resident of Hornell for most of his life, Al was a graduate of Hornell High School. From 1970 to his honorable discharge in 1972 he served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After being discharged from the Navy he graduated from Alfd University, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting. When Al began his career with the Federal Government he resided in Va. and audited utility companies throughout the northeast. During his employment with the Federal Government he also earned his CPA and retired as a Certified Public Accountatith the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission at the Pentagon. After retiring he returned to Hornell to reside. He was a member of the Arthur H. Cunningham American Legion Post No. 440, the Cpl. Larry Hatter AmVet Post No. 245 and Cpl. J.J. Mooney VFW Post No. 2250 in Hornell as well as the Hornell Association. Al was an avid chess player and an amateur astronomist. He was also very interested in the stock market and enjoyed reading, especially The Wall Street Journal. Besides his father, Richard of Savona, his family includes his stepfather, Eugene Pettibone of Hornell; his brothers and sisters, Gail (Timothy) Moore of Hornell, Martin Pettibone of Rochester and Ann (Mark) Domingos of Hornell, Cindy Harrisn f Hornell and Robert Rosell of Orlando, Fla.; his niece; three nephews; two great-nephews; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet his family at Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, where the Rev. Thomas Gramley will celebrate a Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. Monday. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors,ll follow at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
