Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 10, 1906 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Martha A. Potter - Martha A. Doane was born in Pulaski, October 9, 1832, and was the daughter of Captain Ira Doane. All her life was spent in this village. She was married to Latham D. Potter about thirty-five years ago, and to them were born two sons, who both died in infancy. Mr. Potter died very suddenly three years ago last spring. A week ago last Sunday Mrs. Potter was called to the home of Mr. Burton, whose death occurred that day, and on her return home she was stricken with paralysis and lapsed into unconsciousness from which he never rallied, her death occurring last Sunday, after just a week illness. Mrs. Potter was a most loyal member of St. James' Episcopal church. Her life has been one of patient devotion to all members of her household and her mild and lovable disposition endeared her to all with whom she became associated. She was of a quiet retiring nature, yet the rare fragrance of her sweet, self-sacrificing wife was felt by the large circle of friends and relatives who mourn her departure. She is survived by one brother, Helon F. Doane, who will sadly miss his sister's watchful care. The funeral will be held at the late home on North Street today at 2 p.m., being conducted by Rev. J. O. Ward. Burial in Pulaski cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. William Pruyne and son, of Watertown, are in town to attend the funeral, also a large number of relatives from Orwell.
