Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 27, 1898 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Emeline Tredway McLaughlin was born in Plainfield, Otsego county, New York, April 12, 1823, and died at Holmesville, New York April 20, 1898. She was married to James McLaughlin September 27, 1843. With her husband she moved to Holmesville about forty years ago. She was a faithful member of the M. E. church, an earnest and devoted Christian, loved and prized by all who knew her. The end was peaceful and triumphant. “Joyful! Peaceful! Glorious! I hadn’t thought it would be like this,” were some of her last words as she entered the valley of shadows, to “be forever with the Lord.” To her companion of more than half a century, now eighty-three years of age, the parting was sad, and the road will be lonely, but the end is near and the reunion is close at hand in the land where there will be no more death. “For the former things are passed away.” The funeral was conducted by Rev. R. F. Whipple, of Vienna, New York.
