Lura Mason Whiting, 74, a former resident of 92 E. Bridge St., died Friday in the Oswego Hospital.
A native of Albion, Mrs. Whiting resided most of her life in the Oswego-Scriba area. She retired in 1981 after many years with the housekeeping staff of the State University College at Oswego. Her husband, William H., died several years ago.
Mrs. Whitin was a former member of North Scriba Baptist Church. She was a member of the auxiliary of Oswego Post 2320, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and also was associated with Scriba Post 9218, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are three daughters, Elaine O'Reilly, Lola Barber and Janine Mayes, all of Oswego; four sons, Donald, Arnold and Claude, all of Oswego, and Randy of Fort Bliss, Texas; a brother, Claude Ware of Mexico; a sister, Leta Phillips of New Haven; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St.
