Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 3, 1947 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Funeral of Mrs. Reed Conducted at Richland -Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel B. Reed of Richland who died June 30, 1947 in Johnson City, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Richland church, Rev. Herbert Harrison officiating. Mrs. Reed, who was the mother of Dr. Burch K Reed, of Sandy Creek, and Dr. H. Grant Reed of Binghamton, was active in the business and social affairs of Richland. She was a member of the Richland Rebecca lodge, of which she was a past Noble Grand, a member of the Methodist church of Richland, and since the death of her husband, the late Frank D. Reed, had conducted the Reed store in Richland. She was born July 1, 1881, in Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Burch. She later lived in Gouverneur, receiving her education at the Potsdam Academy of Music. September 23, 1907 she married Frank D. Reed, son of the late George W. and Emma L. Nichols Reed, their life together being spent in Richland. Mrs. Reed was at one time a music teacher. Mrs. Reed is survived by two sons, Dr. Burch K. Reed of Sandy Creek, and Dr. Grant H. Reed of Binghamton, and by four grandchildren, Marilyn Anne Reed of Sandy Creek and Franklin, Harry and Mary Anne Reed of Binghamton.
