      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 25, 1971 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Masonic Rites for Herbert H. Austin - Herbert H. Austin, 63 of Port Ontario died Saturday, August 21 shortly after he was admitted to Oswego Hospital. He had worked as usual Thursday as a guard at Schoeller Technical Papers, Inc. Born November, 13, 1907 in the Town of Albion, he was a son of William and Liza Whipple Austin. He attended Pulaski Academy and was married on June 25, 1927 to Lena M. Moot at Mexico. He was employed by the New York Central Railroad for 36 years, retiring November 30, 1960. He then was employed for nearly six years as a patrolman for the Village of Pulaski. He was employed by the Monis Protective Agency in June of 1966, the position he held at the time of his death. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Pulaski Chapter No. 415, F & AM, Pulaski Chapter No. 279 RAM and Whango Grotto of Oswego. He was also a member of the Ringgold Fire Company, the Retired Firemen's Association and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. Surviving are his wife, Lena M. Austin; a daughter, Mrs. John (Arlowyn) Sayler of Spokane, Washington; two grandsons, John and Michael Sayler of Spokane; and a niece, Mrs. Betty Coon of Pulaski. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 24 at the Foster-Hax Funeral Service with the Rev. Richard Clay, rector of St. James Church officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Masonic rites were observed Monday evening.
