Walter D. Reed, 84, of 135 Lakeshore Road, died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Reed was a pilot for USAir, Mohawk and Allegheny Airlines for 33 years, retiring in 1981.
Born Sept. 12, 1921, in Dunbar, Pa., son of Jesse M. and Alma Anderson Reed, he graduated from Midland (Pa.) High School and served in the Army Air Forces from 1941 to 1946.
He married Margaret L. Dornburg on Feb. 23, 1944.
Mr. Reed had resided at Sandy Pond since 1983 and previously lived in Massachusetts, Clinton and Ithaca. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski.
Surviving besides his wife are a son and his companion, Jay R. Reed and Connie Hathway, Sandy Pond; a daughter and her husband, Allyson and John Upson, Hampstead, N.C.; two brothers, Richard, Erie, Pa., and Harry, St. Cloud, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Garcia, Ithaca, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilyn Stevens officiating.
Arrangements are with Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski.
June 4, 2006 Walter D. Reed, age 84, of Sandy Creek, died at his home on Sunday, June 4. Surviving: his wife, Margaret; one son, Jay R. Reed; one daughter, Allyson Upson. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Park United Methodist Church, Pualski. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, NY.
