Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 6, 1888 Pulaski Democrat - Died - In this town, at the residence of her brother, John Meacham, August 26th, 1888, Lavina, wife of James Knowlton, long since deceased. Mrs. Knowlton was 86 years of age at the time of her death, and had made it her home with her brother for the past seven years. She made a profession of religion when a girl of perhaps 17 years of age, and she was one of the original members of the Pulaski Baptist Church at the date of its formation, over sixty years ago. For years she has been in feeble health, failing gradually in mind and body until paralysis came, terminating a long life of Christian activity. Her pastor, Rev. D. D. Owen, assisted by Rev. A. H. Post, conducted the funeral services. The remains were deposited in Pulaski cemetery.
