      Robert D. Martin Sr., 76, of 1762 County Route 2, died Sunday at Seneca Manor Nursing Home, Volney.
      Mr. Martin worked for more than 30 years at General Electric, Syracuse, retiring in 1984. He had lived in Orwell for 70 years.
      Born Feb. 18, 1926, in Buffalo, son of Lorenzo and Ruth Schaffer Martin, he attended school in Orwell and served in the Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945.
      He married Betty D. Blodgett on Nov. 12, 1948, in Great Bend, Pa.
      Mr. Marter was a former assessor for town of Orwell, former member of Orwell Volunteer Fire Department, former member of Williamstown Masonic Lodge and a former coach for Orwell Little League.
      Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert D. Jr., Orwell;, three daughters, Catherine M. O'Keefe, New Haven, Sharon L. Yerdon, Granby, Mass., and Sue A. Harlander, Redfield; two sisters, Laura Essex, Little Rock, Calif., and Ruth Towne, Orlando, Fla., 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
      The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Thomas Howell officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

      Robert D. Martin Sr., 76, of 1762 county Route 2, Orwell, died Sunday at Seneca Hill Manor in Volney. Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Orwell schools. He retired in 1984 after 30 years at General Electric Co. He was a former member of Orwell Volunteer Fire Department, a former volunteer coach for the Orwell Little League, a former member of the Williamstown Masonic Lodge and former assessor for the town of Orwell. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

      Survivors: His wife of 53 years, the former Betty D. Blodgett; three daughters, Catherine M. O'Keefe of New Haven, Sharon L. Yerdon of Granby, Mass., and Sue A. Harlander of Redfield; a son, Robert D. Jr. of Orwell; two sisters, Laura Essex of Littlerock, Calif., and Ruth Towne of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Services: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Spring burial, Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours, 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 52 Park St., Pulaski.
