Verle R. Helinger, age 97, life resident of Syracuse, passed away on Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Verle was born April 17, 1925, in Central Square, the son of George and Mary Martzloff Helinger. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1943 and served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946. Verle was married to Shirley Stacy Helinger on October 23, 1948, and she passed away in 1976. He was employed by New Process Gear in Syracuse for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Mexico VFW. He also enjoyed hunting and RV camping.
Surviving, are three daughters, Diane (Howard) Morrison of Pulaski, Linda Helinger (Lynn Butler) of Georgetown, Brenda (James) Mowers of Pulaski, four sons, Robert (Glenda) Helinger of Pulaski, James (Cindy) Helinger of Syracuse, Steven Helinger of Pulaski and Mark (Francine) Helinger of Cicero, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Verle was predeceased by one daughter and son in-law, Sharon and Jack Ryan, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 18th at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski with a spring burial in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
