"Had a son, John Fitzpatrick, by a former marriage who always lived with the family of Ebenezer Tallman and was counted as the 21st child.
Maria, Ebenezer's third wife, applied for a pension after Ebenezer died. She claimed he served in the War of 1812, but the War Dept rejected her claim showing that Akin went in his place. The only other possibility was that Ebenezer served some of the days and then Akin replaced him, even though Ebenezer's name was not on the rolls. Maria even applied stating that he served from Mass. I (Helen O'Connor) think she was desperate. "
