      Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 13, 1975 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Richland Native Dies - Mrs. Ardell Smith Brannan, 76, 319 Gifford Street, Syracuse, a native of Richland, died Tuesday at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Whelan Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger C. Rounds, officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Richland Cemetery. Friends may call this evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nan Whaley of Syracuse, a brother Clark Smith of California; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Born in Richland, February 5, 1899, daughter of Frederick and Nancy Gibbs Smith, she had lived for the past 40 years in Syracuse. She owned operated several apartment buildings in the Syracuse and Pulaski vicinity.
