- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, June 28, 1939 Pulaski Democrat - Clayton Hill Dies At 81 - Life Long Resident of this Town - Clayton Hill, a life long and successful farmer of this town, died at the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh F. Whitney, Centerville road, early last Wednesday morning, following a period of ill health extending over two years. Mr. Hill was the last of a family of seven children of the late Enos R. and Abigail Cook Hill. He was born at the family homestead in the Meacham district, June 14, 1857, where he resided until 1920, when he purchased and moved to the former Stewart farm on the Richland road, just east of this village, where he lived until about two years ago. He then sold that place and he and Mrs. Hill went to the Whitney home where they had since resided. While Mr. Hill had a few interests outside his home his industry, integrity and kindly disposition had gained for him a wide circle of friends and high esteem as a citizen. He was a member of Pulaski Grange for over 40 years and an attendant of the Congregational church. On February 10, 1887 he married Harriet Williams, who survives him as does a daughter, Mrs. Whitney, and a grandson, H. Frederick Whitney of Roselle, N.J. The funeral was held Friday at the Whitney home with the Rev. R. Norris Wilson, pastor of the Pulaski Congregational church, officiating. Burial Pulaski Cemetery.
