      Newspaper Obituary - Monday, October 11, 1965 Syracuse Herald Journal - Syracuse, New York - 5 Killed, 21 Injured in Weekend Accidents - Five area persons were killed and 21 injured in a rash of traffic accidents over the weekend. Two young women died in a head-on collision in Wayne county. A third motorist died when his car hit a tree. A 16 year old Pulaski girl died after the car she was riding in overturned and caught fire about midnight on the Rainbow Shores road in Oswego County. Dead were: Miss Rosa Mae Rouse, 18, of Wolcott. Miss Clemmie Knight, 20, of Red Creek. Miss Janice Sanderson, 16, of Pulaski. Donald Harrington, 42, of Marathon. An Ohio soldier was killed in an early morning one car accident in Watertown. Harrington was killed last night when his car reportedly left the highway on Route 163 near Canajoharie and crashed head on into a tree. Miss Rouse and Miss Knight were killed in an accident near Huron, when a car driven by Jimmy Lee Knight, of Red Creek, and another driven by Anderson Lester of Wolcott, crashed head-on on a rural road, according to police. Young Knight was injured seriously, as was Lester. Three other occupants of his car were injured: John Chambers, 24, of Alton, and James Fisher, 20, and Cora Fisher, 17, of Wolcott. A car train collision at 4:15 this morning at the Pearl Street New York Air Brake crossing of the New York Central resulted in the death at Mercy Hospital of PFC Horst Peter Kredlebach, 32. Patrolman Edwin Schneider Jr., said the soldiers 1961 compact sedan ran into the seventh car of the 14-car train. The soldier, attached to the 513th Ordinance and a resident of Cambridge, Ohio received severe chest and head injuries. A 16 year old Pulaski girl was fatally injured and two young men are in the Oswego Hospital, one critical, after the car in which they were riding in left the road. Pronounced dead at the scene was Janice Sanderson, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Sanderson of 7456 Box Street. In critical condition in Oswego Hospital is Paul Haggerty, 19, of RD 2 Pulaski, who received fractures of the right arm and leg, a shoulder injury, cuts and bruises and third degree bums to his body. In fair condition in the hospital is James Beach, 16, of Pulaski RD 2, and Glastonbury, Connecticut, who incurred cuts to the hands, bruises and possible internal injuries. According to trooper R. C. Schilling and Investigator O. P. Honors, who investigated at the east in the Rainbow Shores road near Route 3. His car went into a skid, left the road near property belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nolan of Pulaski, RD 2.

Sanderson, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Sanderson of 7456 Box Street, Pulaski, who was asphyxiated after the car in which she was a passenger caught fire about midnight Sunday, will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Foster Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Jones, pastor of the Pulaski Baptist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Miss Sanderson was bom in Oswego, and was a freshman at Pulaski Academy and Central School. She was a member of the Salmon River Junior Rifle Club and a former member of the Gray Barrons Drum and Bugle Corps. Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Patricia and Donna; a step-sister, Mrs. Joseph Kibitleski, Hershey City, New Jersey; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Wyman of Rome.
