Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 13, 1962 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Rites Held For Mrs. Calkins - Last rites for Mrs. Stella M. Calkins, 84, who died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Webb at Fernwood, were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Aldrich, pastor of the First Baptist Church at Mexico, officiated. Interment was in South Richland Cemetery. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Ella) Webb she is survived by one step-daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nila Calkins of Daysville; two step-granddaughters, Mrs. Henry Davis of Oswego and Mrs. Harold Nicholson of Daysville; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mrs. Calkins was born July 2, 1878 at Lorraine, the daughter of George and Emily Nichols Reed. She was educated in the Lorraine school and taught in that area before her marriage to Fred S. Calkins, October 13, 1897. They lived in the Daysville area many years where they operated a farm. Later they moved into the village where they operated a restaurant (in the building where the Pulaski Music Store is now located) for several years before his death on January 29, 1951. She was a member of the Fernwood Methodist Church and of the South Richland Grange.
