Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 7, 1952 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Belva McNitt, 28, Dies of Heart Failure - Mrs. Belva Twitchell McNitt, 28, wife of Elmer McNitt, died suddenly at her home in the Hinman District near Pulaski Monday night, August 4, 1952. She had been ill for three weeks as the result of a heart ailment and confined to bed but was believed to be improving and seemed as usual when members of the family left her room shortly after 6 p.m. Returning a few minutes later, they found her dead. Physicians were called, and John Schneider and James LeClair brought the Ringgold fire company's new resuscitator to the home and worked for about four hours in a vain attempt to revive her. Mrs. McNitt was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Twitchell and had always lived in the Hinman district. She attended Pulaski schools, and on September 12, 1939 was married to Elmer McNitt of Lacona, the couple making their home in an apartment in her parents home. She was a member of Pulaski Grange and attended Pulaski Methodist church. She would have been 29 years old on October 14. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves five young children, LeRoy, Elwin, Susan, Danny and Gary. The funeral was held at the home Thursday at 3 o'clock, Rev. James Pauley, pastor of Pulaski Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Willis cemetery. The number of floral offerings and the presence of the many people who attended the funeral and who visited the home prior to the service indicated the affection which her friends had for Belva, who had a friendly and happy personality which endeared her to a wide circle beyond her family.
