    • Melvin T. Haynes SR. 81, of Oswego died peacefully Monday at the Oswego Hospital surrounded by his friends and family. He was born in Fulton; Son of the late Melvin S. and Evaline Malette Haynes. He was a Roll grinder working for Alcan. Melvin retired in 1987. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the Naval Reserve. He was a member of the Oswego American Legion and the V.F.W. post in Oswego and Scriba. Mel is predeceased by his first Wife, Lois in 1990; one Son, Melvin T. Haynes Jr. in 1987 and one Daughter, Betsy Murray in 2012; one Brother Joseph Haynes; one Sister Joan Ashby and Grandson Keith Russell Chamberlain Jr. in 2000. Surviving are his wife the former Constance Albright; four Children, Patti (Ted) Powers of Oswego, Bonnie Solazzo of Florida, Michele (Jeff) LaBouef of Oswego and Randy (Audrey) Haynes of Mexico; four Step Children, Richard Baker of Oswego, Deidra Baker of Oswego, Cheryl Burns of Oswego and Paula Baker of Oswego along with several Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held in the spring in the New Haven Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in care of the Harter Funeral Home Mexico, NY.
