- G. Irene Tanner, age 98 of County Rte 59, Dexter passed away Tuesday afternoon at her home under the care of Hospice and Dee Wills of Watertown and Judy Sorrell of Dexter who were her caregivers for several years.
Irene was born August 10, 1914 in Altmar, N.Y. the daughter of Earl and Mary Obirst Tanner. She went to school in Jersey Shore, PA Watertown and Rochester Dental Dispensary. She lived in Binghamton, Kingston and Albany and moved to Dexter in 1974.
Irene was a buyer for Lilton Corp. a Dental Supply Co. and after they closed down she worked at NYS Dept. of Ag and Markets for ten years, retired in 1975.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by several cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy E. Tanner in March of 2008.
