      Ernest L. Coffin, 74, of Ridge Rd., RD 1, Lacona, died Apr. 2 in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown.

      Born Aug. 2, 1904 in Salisbury Center, he was the son of William and Carrie Coffin. He attended school in Salisbury Center and Cortland. He was first married to the late Edna Nicholson. He was married later to Hazel Squires May 24, 1958. He farmed in the Tully area and moved to Lacona in 1947. Later he was employed by General Electric until 1969 when he retired.

      He is survived by his wife, Hazel; 2 sons, Robert L. Coffin of Lacona; William F. Coffin of Tully; 2 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Figary of Fulton; Mrs. Eva Cooley of Manlius; one stepson, Paul Squires of Fulton; 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. Norma Coffin; Mrs. Jolene LaCelle, Richland; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren;, 2 brothers, Roy Coffin, Ft. Launderdale, Fla.; Walter Coffin, Melbourne, Fla.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Greene, Cincinnatus; Mrs. Ida Cicerettie, Miami, Fla.

      Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wed., Apr. 4, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, Rev. Stanley Tanner, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Sandy Creek, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell.

      Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tues., Apr. 3.
