The funeral for Alvin R. Comstock, 72, of 17559 Comstock Road, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Piddock Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Woods officiating. The body will be cremated following the funeral.
Mr. Comstock died Friday morning at his home, where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 11, 1935, in Rodman, son of Manford L. and Edith L. Nichols Comstock, he attended Mannsville-Manor High School. Following high school, he worked at Ribstone Silo in Lacona for several years, and in 1953 went to work at General Electric Corp. in Syracuse.
He entered the Army in 1955, where he served as a military policeman. After his discharge in 1957, he returned to General Electric, retiring in 1991 after 38 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting and attending auctions.
He married Mildred Graham of Orwell in 1963. The marriage ended in divorce.
Mr. Comstock lived in Orwell for several years before moving in 1974 to his Comstock Road home, where he lived with Elaine Rosetti, his longtime companion of 34 years.
Surviving besides his companion are a son and his wife, Jamie and Meredith, Orwell; a daughter and her husband, Denise and Russell Bauer, Lacona; a brother and his wife, Allen and Joanne, Woodward, Okla.; a sister and her husband, Arline and Claude Jareo, Clayton; his companion's son, Todd Thompson, Adams; his companion's daughter and her husband, Leda and David VanRy, Orwell, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
