      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, December 22, 1960 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Fred E. Weed, 83, retired farmer, died last Tuesday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient seven days. His home was in Ames Street, Mexico. Mr. Weed was born November 12, 1877 in Mexico, son of John E. and Lettie Haskill Weed. His wife, the former Martha Tegg, died several years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rollo (Edith) Petrie of Tampa, Florida; three sons, Ralph of Parish, John E. of Mexico and William of North Syracuse; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Gibbs Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Pennock, pastor of the Mexico Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Willis Cemetery near Fernwood.
