Funeral services were held at the family home on Tuesday for Desalvo L. Howlett, 74, a former resident of Sandy Creek, who died at his home in Fulton Sunday morning, following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Howlett was born in Orwell in 1855, the son of Augustus and Eliza Porter Howlett, and was educated in the schools of that locality. In early manhood he was united in marriage with Miss Ida Dota of Sandy Creek, the couple making their home here until about 15 years ago when they moved to Fulton, making their home with their daughter, Pearl. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. He is survived by the widow, one brother, DeForest Howlett of Orwell, a daughter, Mrs George Mitchell of Fulton and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon, Br. Albert E. Legg of First Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Burial was in Mount Adnah cemetery

Eliza Ann Porter was born August fifth, 1823 in Sandy Creek. She was the fifth of fourteen children born to Seth and Rhoda Porter. July fourth, 1841 she was married to Augustus Howlett, who died in 1888. Since then, she has been tenderly cared for in the home of her son, DeSalvo Howlett, in Sandy Creek where she died February eighth, 1912
