  John and Annette came to Sandy Creek in 1875 buying 216 acres. They had 30 cows. John was well respected in his new home community and served as Justice of the Peace, Overseer of the Poor, Town Auditor and two terms as Town of Sandy Creek Supervisor from 1891-94 (John's Great-Granddaughter Margaret Hollis Kastler helds that seat from 2000-2007). Following the death of his wife Annette, John remarried a widow, Elizabeth Calkins Adsit, who had children by her own first marriage to Samuel Adsit: Daniel C. Adsit and Abigail Adsit Allen.
