- Mrs. Elsie M. Helbock, 73, of 9055 South Main Street, Sandy Creek, widow of Rolon Helbock, died Monday evening April 16, 1984 at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient for three weeks.
Born December 27, 1910 at Sandy Creek, daughter of William and Frances Collins Dana, she was educated in Sandy Creek schools.
She was married to Stephen Weaver in 1932. He died in 1934. She was married to Rolon Helbock on August 29, 1949. He died August 23, 1978.
She was a life-long resident of Sandy Creek,
They owned and operated a service station and Sharky's Tavern for 14 years, retiring in 1958.
She was a member and conductress of Cable Trail Post auxiliary and assistant conductress of Oswego County Council VFW auxiliary, a member of the Sandy Creek senior citizens club, and the senior citizens kitchen band.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Delbert (Aileen) Legel, in Pakistan;; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Stacy, Sandy Creek, and Mrs. Charlotte Oakes, Syracuse,, and four brothers, William Dana, Watertown, James Dana, Lacona, Harrison Dana and Ernest Dana, Sandy Creek.
A brother, Gerald Dana, died in 1948 and another brother, Harley Dana, died in 1981. An infant son, William Frederick, died in 1934.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helbock were held Thursday, April 19 at the Summerville Funeral Home, with Rev. Virgil B. Hager, pastor of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Pulaski Village Cemetery.
