- Mrs. Frank Hadley Died at Nursing Home Saturday
Mrs. Frank M. Hadley who had been in ill health for several years and for the past four weeks a patient at the Marsh Nursing Home in Syracuse, died there Saturday morning, June 9, 1945.
Funeral services were held from her late home in Sandy Creek, on Monday afternoon. Lake Ontario Chapter OES attended in a body. Her pastor, Rev. David Owen, officiated and burial was made in
Woodlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Nellie B. Baker Hadley was born December 2, 1871, in Lacona, the daughter of Howard F. and Arabelle Smith Baker. Following the death of her mother, in 1873, she made her home with her grandmother, Mrs. Frederick D. Smith, familiarly known as Aunt Lydia. She attended Sandy Creek High School where she was active in dramatics.
On February 16, 1892, she was united in marriage with Frank M. Hadley, son of Albert and Maria Wart Hadley. The first six years of their married life were spent on the Hadley homestead on the Lake road.
In December 1898 they moved to their home on North Main street, this village, where Mrs. Hadley had resided up until the time of her death with the exception of the past two winters which she has spent in the home of her son, H. Earle Hadley in Solvay. Her husband died June 15, 1935.
Mrs. Hadley was a lifelong member of the Baptist church, a member of the Philathea class of that church, and a teacher of the primary group in the Sunday School for fifty years. While health permitted she was an active worker in the church, and ever loyal to its interests.
Mrs. Hadley was a member of the Ladies' Wednesday Club and a member of Lake, Ontario chapter OES. She served as secretary of Lake Ontario chapter for eighteen years and was matron of the organization in 1916.
Surviving besides one son, H. Earl Hadley, is an aunt, Mrs. Coral Thomas, and a cousin, Arthur Smith, both of Sandy Creek
