    • John was a Civil War veteran, from Iowa. He had previously been married, and had a daughter Flora. In South Dakota he was a founder of Miller. The name was chosen by chance as it was between Miller and Munger--names of both of the families with Hotels in town. He is buried with his brother-in-law and nephew in the GAR cemetery in Miller.
