    • In the Congregational church of Pulaski on Jan. 23d, will occur the marriage of James H. Betts to Miss Kate L. Harmon, Rev. A. H. Emmons officiating. About 300 invitations have been sent out.

      OSWEGO DAILY TIMES, MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 1895

      James Harvey Betts, 75, died Wednesday at Ideal Rest Hospital, Orwell, after a comparatively brief illness. He was taken ill a week ago today with a cold and on Friday mastoid trouble developed. Dr. P.W. Crocker was called and advised Mr. Betts' removal to the hospital. This was done Sunday. On the following day he suffered a shock and he did not regain consciousness, death ensuing Wednesday.

      Mr. Betts was a lifelong resident of Pulaski. He built up an extensive Dairy and poultry business, specializing in Holstein cattle and Rhode Island Red hens, and produced certified milk. He was a lover of flowers and was expert in horticulture. The family home, Lakeview farm, near Pulaski, is one of the best equipped farm homes and estates in the county.

      Regret at his death will be widespread, and his family have the sincere sympathy of the community.

      Mr. Betts attended the First Baptist church.

      Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Katherine Harmon Betts; a daughter, Mrs. Albert March, and a granddaughter, Katherine Betts Remington.

      The funeral will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the family home, the Rev. B. A, Walton will officiate.

      Interment in Pulaski cemetery.

      JAMES HARVEY BETTS EXPIRES, ONE OF BEST KNOWN RESIDENTS OF PULASKI DIES, ENGAGED IN DAIRY BUSINESS, Death Occurs at Ideal Rest Hospital at Orwell Following a Short Illness-Son of Late Dr. James N. Betts.

      Pulaski. May 17.-James Harvey Betts, 79, one of the best known residents of this village and where he had passed practically all his life, died yesterday at Ideal Rest hospital at Orwell, following a short Illness.

      Mr. Betts was born Feb 2, 1853, and for many years had been engaged in the dairy business here, his place being situated in lower Lake street.

      He was a son of Dr. James N. Betts, prominent Pulaski physician and surgeon, whose death occurred in 1892 and who back in the 80's built and managed the Betts opera house and now owned by Francis W. Hohman and which bears his name. Dr. George W. Betts and Albert F. Betts, both of Pulaski are brothers of James H. Betts, died some years ago. He was the last surviving member of the family.

      Surviving besides his widow, Mrs. Kate Harmon Betts, is a daughter, Mrs. Albert L. March, who lives at the family home in lower Lake street. Rev. Bertram A. Walton, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate at last rites, which will be held at the family home at 2 Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Pulaski cemetery.
