Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, April 2, 1992 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - William DeShane, Watertown Native, Dies ¬William H. DeShane, 94, of Richland Road, died Wednesday at the Harr-Wood Nursing Home, Oswego. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Surviving are two sons, Charles and Terry, both of Syracuse; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, William, died in 1977. Born February 22, 1898, in Watertown, he had lived in Richland for 80 years. He married Naomi Riley June 3, 1931. Mrs. DeShane died April 14, 1964. Mr. DeShane had served in the Merchant Marines, working the Great Lakes, for several years. He later was employed by Ironworkers Local 96 of Syracuse for many years, retiring in 1962. He was a charter member of the Richland Fire Department, where he was a member for over 60 years. He was also a member of the Richland Odd Fellows.
