- Mrs. Kiblin Was Well Known to Cottagers Here
KIBLIN SHORE - Mrs. Blanche C. Kiblin, 84, widow of Fred L. Kiblin, died April 5, 1963 at Crouse-Irving hospital, Syracuse. She had been in failing health several months and was a hospital patient six days, undergoing surgery.
Mr. Kiblin died in 1948. They were both well known, not only to local people but also to the many vacationers at Sandy Pond. Mr. Kiblin operated a boat livery and he and Mrs. Kiblin entertained summer boarders in their home. Shore-front lots on the Kiblin property soon became sought after, the first cottage being buit in 1908. Today there are some 25 cottages on this property.
In late years, Mrs. Kiblin was associated with Mrs. H.C. Mason in operating the Hobby House at her home.
Both came from families who had lived at Sandy Pond since the early settlement of the Town of Sandy Creek. Mrs. Kiblin was a daughter of Nathan and Jane Howard Coon and was born Aug. 11, 1878. Her grandfather was Peter Coon, one of the Sandy Pond area's first settlers, his farm having been located north of the Corners.
She was married Jan. 1, 1898 to Fred. L. Kiblin, son of John and Ursula Baldwin Kiblin.
Member of Center Church
Mrs. Kiblin was a member of the old Center Methodist church which was located at the Corners.
Her funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Weston and Woodard funeral home. Rev, George Pattington, pastor of the Boylston Methodist, church, officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery. Bearers were Ceylon Fraser, H.C. Mason, Leon Crandall, Leonard Strablo, Harwood Lindsey and Lawrence Ouderkirk.
She is survived by a nephew, Frank Pryor of Waddington, also by grand nephews Bruce Baldwin of Mannsville and Howard Baldwin of Baldwinsville and by two grandnieces, Mrs. Albert N. (Dorothy) Pirello and Mrs. Edward (Arlene) Donser.
