- Harley H. Mellen, 72, of 4920 Jefferson St., died Saturday morning at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. Mr. Mellen was employed by the Richland Town Highway Department for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He previously worked at the Oliver Loomis farm for several years. Born Oct. 31, 1926, in Ellisburg, son of Albert and Sylvia Sprague Mellen, he attended Ellisburg schools and had resided in Pulaski since 1945. He married Phyllis V. Ladd on Aug. 5, 1948. Surviving besides his wife are a son, Donald, Orwell; three daughters, Delores Sikora and Dorothy Atkinson, both of Pulaski, and Diane Pike, Oak Harbor, Wash.; three sisters, Marie Mills and Arlene Algarin, both of Phoenix, and Marion Cox, Syracuse; two brothers, Mervin Mellen, Three Mile Bay, and Clarence Presley, Woodville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery.
