      Edith M. Lester, 95, of Springbrook Apartments, died Monday at a local nursing home.

      A native of Boyleston, Mrs. Lester had lived in the Sandy Creek-Orwell area before moving to Pulaski in 1961. She was the widow of George VanAlstyne, who died in 1950, and Earl Lester, who died in 1980.

      She was a member of Park United Methodist Church.

      Surviving are a daughter, Norma Gareau, of Pulaski; two sons, George A. VanAlstyne, of North Syracuse, and Robert H. VanAlstyne, of Williamstown; a stepson, Allen Lester, of Orwell; a stepdaughter, Bertha VanBuren, of Altmar; a sister, Edna Sanford, of Pulaski; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

      Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, the Rev. Earl M. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.

      Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 7385 Park St.
