    • Merwin and Helen returned to Syracuse shortly after their marriage. Merwin had been in the Navy for 38 months from July 1942- Oct 1945, during which time he was 18 months at Guadal Canal. In Syracuse Merwin was employed by Bresee Chevrolet in the parts department. He later worked for Strickland Motors and Bill Rapp Pontiac before ending up at East Syracuse Chevrolet from where he retired. The couple built their home on Beverly Dr. on Onondaga Hill in Syracuse. The Woods had a camp on the North Bank of the Salmon River in Selkirk, and spent many enjoyable summer days there.
