- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, December 11, 1895 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - In Pulaski, New York, December 3, 1895, Eva M. Champlin, beloved wife of Willis C. Peck, aged 42 years. Mrs. Peck was born in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. When quite young she removed to this village, where she has since resided. She was married to Mr. Peck in 1872, and their united lives have been most happy. Two children blessed this union, one child, an infant daughter, died when about three months of age. The other, Miss Helen L., a young maiden of 14 years, survives her mother and is the sole comfort of a devoted father and bereaved husband. The deceased, for the past twelve years, has been an active and most devout member of the Pulaski Baptist church and was baptized by Rev. J. J. Townsend. She was a constant attendant at the devotional meetings of her church and was untiring in her labors for the conversion of her friends, all the unsaved of her acquaintance and for the advancement of every good endeavor along Christian lines. Her decease is an irreparable loss to her church and to the temperance and other societies of which she was an active member. She has been seriously ill for many months and as she neared the time of fmal departure to her Heavenly reward, her faith and trust grew brighter and stronger. The funeral was held at her late residence, Jefferson avenue, on Thursday and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. D. J. Bailey, assisted by Revds. Emmons and Webster, of the Congregational and M. E. churches. Thus has passed away a most unselfish and devoted Christian lady. Very many are to-day rejoicing in a firm faith in the Saviour, who attribute their changed lives to her prayers and kindly appeals.
