- Newspaper Obituary - February 18, 1954 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Potter, 89 Dies at Orwell - Mrs. Amelia Hilton Potter, 89, of Orwell, widow of Adin Potter and a lifelong resident of the Orwell area, died February 5, 1954 at her home, Potter street, Orwell. Mrs. Potter had been in poor health for months. The funeral was held February 7 at the Orwell Union Church, with Rev. Wesley Baker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell. - Surviving Relatives - Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Viola) Tubbs, and a son, Richard Potter, both of Orwell; seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Potter was born at Orwell Nov. 16, 1864, daughter of Richard and Betsey Bass Hilton. She was married to Adin Potter of Orwell years ago. The couple lived on farms in the vicinity of Orwell. Mr. Potter died in 1921. Mrs. Potter was a member of the Orwell Union church. A member of the Orwell W.C.T.U., she also was active in the Orwell Rebekah lodge.
Newspaper Obituary - February 11, 1954 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Mrs. Amelia Potter Dies in Orwell - Mrs. Amelia Potter, 89, widow of John Potter, died Friday at her home in Potter, st., Orwell. She was a member of the Orwell Union Church, Orwell Rebekah, and the WCTU. She was a native and life resident of Orwell. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl Tubbs; a son, Richard Potter; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Orwell Union Church with the Rev. Wesley Baker officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Potter was a grandmother of Mrs. Marion Williams, a member of the MACS faculty.
