    • Newspaper Article - Thursday, September 19, 1889 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Peck - Smith - Last Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Rev. W. F. Tooke performed the ceremony which united Mr. Charles E. Peck of Carroll, Iowa, and Miss Ellen A. Smith in the marriage covenant. A fairer wedding day could not have been made to order, and was a fitting setting to the wedding festival. Relatives and a few friends, to the number of forty, were gathered at the residence of Mr. E. H. Smith, the father of the bride, to witness the ceremony. The bride wore a dress of white albatross and surah and a corsage bouquet of Marseilles roses, while the groom wore the customary Prince Albert. After the ceremony the company sat down to a bounteous repast. Many presents, among which were noticed a handsome China set, many pieces of silverware, a handsome clock, gifts of money, linen, etc., spoke of the high esteem in which the young people are held. Miss Smith is a graduate of the Sandy Creek High school and has always been held in high esteem and will be greatly missed by her large circle of friends. Mr. Peck was formerly a resident of this town, but for several years has been in the employ of the American Express company on the Chicago and Northwestern railway, where, by close attention to business, he has won his way to the front. Mr. and Mrs. Peck took the evening train south and were literally showered with rice by their friends who accompanied them to the depot. They will leave for their future home, Carroll, Iowa, Monday, and will be at home to their friends after November 1st in their new home. The many warm congratulations and well wishes for their continued happiness and prosperity attend them.
