- DARIUS ORTON, farmer, P. O. East Greene, was born Apr. 20, 1815, in Williamstown, Oswego Co., N. Y., where his parents, Baruk and Eleanor Orton, both died. Our subject was brought up on a farm. He made a trip to Erie Co. about 1831, staying 3 1/2 years. He then returned to his native county, and was married, Apr. 30, 1835, to Druzilla Bonney, born Aug. 17, 1816, in Oswego County. They remained there until 1847, when they came to this county, and settled where they now reside, on one of the highest points in Erie Co. in the northern part of Venango. To this union were born 9 children, 4 now living -- Ashbel, in Iowa; Lester L.; Mrs. Mima Orton, of La Porte Co., Ind., and Mrs. Frank Estelle Ketcham. Mr. Orton has been an industrious and successful farmer; he is a man of strict integrity, and is respected by all. In politics, he is a Democrat. Lester L. was married, Sept. 12, 1871, to Eliza Raymond, by whom he has 2 children, Milly D. and Leslie Raymond. Mr. Orton learned the blacksmithing in North East and Philipsville.
