Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, February 22, 1994 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Golda Mae Thornhill Of Pulaski, Dies At 92 - Golda Mae Thornhill, 92, Springbrook Apartments, died Monday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours are 7 to 9 this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Surviving are two sons, Harlen W., Conroe, Texas, and Roger F., Brewerton; two daughters, Marilou A. Belange, Brewerton, and Donna J_ Ireland, Raleigh, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, June A. Boykin, died June 29, 1984. Also three brothers, George A. Doane, Earl W. Doane and Harry A. Doane, died before her. Born on October 24, 1901, in Altmar, a daughter of Henry and Sarah Thurston Doane, she moved to Watertown in 1915 where she attended school and graduated from Northern Business College. She was first employed by Standard Accident Insurance Company in Watertown until 1930 when she married Harlan A. Thornhill of Pulaski. The couple moved to Fernwood in 1933 and lived several years in Pulaski Mr. Thornhill died in 1968 at age 67. Mrs. Thornhill later worked at the Standard Accident Insurance Company's Syracuse branch for several years and was a typist for the Merriem Agency for several years. She retired as a clerk-typist after 20 years with Oswego County Mutual Insurance Company. Mrs. Thornhill was a member of the Fernwood First United Methodist Church, a secretary of the United Methodist Women and a past master of Golden Sheaf of the South Richland Grange. She was an elections inspector for the town of Richland's 3rd District and was a secretary for many years for the South Richland Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Mexico Senior Citizens.
